How Donations Work
We use Givebutter, a secure platform built for nonprofits. Every gift you make goes directly toward purchasing native trees, providing protective supplies, and supporting the community events that keep West Hartford’s canopy thriving.
Matching Grant Opportunity
In the fall of 2025, the West Hartford Tree Project received a matching donation of $6,000 from Sustainable CT! We crowdfunded over $7,000 from dozens of generous community members. Your generosity helps us grow more trees every single year.
Where Your Gift Goes
Your support funds the essentials: healthy, native trees from trusted suppliers, tree cages and care instructions for long-term survival, and hands-on community events. On average, it costs about $15-$20 to plant and protect one tree — and every dollar gets us closer.

No. Donations support the program as a whole, but tree reservations are separate and must be requested when the order form opens.

Givebutter is a secure, nonprofit-focused fundraising platform. It allows us to accept donations online safely and easily and ensure the highest % of money raised is going back into planting new trees.
How much should I donate?
Any amount helps! For reference, on average, it costs about $15-$20 to purchase, prepare, and distribute one healthy, native potted tree with a cage for protection to grow!
