Restoring West Hartford,
One Tree At A Time
Together, we’re rebuilding the canopy, strengthening our community,
and creating a healthier future.

Between record-setting dry months and the removal of trees without replanting, the threat to West Hartford’s tree canopy is real and urgent.
A healthy urban tree canopy does more than provide shade. Trees cool our summers, clean our air, and reduce noise. They boost property values, provide wildlife habitat, calm traffic, improve biodiversity, and even reduce stress.
Every tree planted is an investment in the health and beauty of West Hartford.
Who We Are

The West Hartford Tree Project began in 2020, sparked by a simple but powerful idea:
Neighbors planting trees together makes a lasting difference.

What began with a few local plantings quickly grew into a town-wide effort.
Today, thanks to hundreds of generous volunteers and donors, we strive to plant over 1,000 trees each year.
Help Us Grow
Every contribution makes a difference. Your support helps us plant more trees and restore the canopy that protects our town. Together, we can grow a stronger, more resilient community – one tree at a time!

Request A Tree
Every resident can be a part of rebuilding West Hartford’s tree canopy. Our trees are FREE, thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers. We take orders around February-March of every year, and we distribute them at the end of April. Join our mailing list to be notified when our tree request form is open.
